UNC Charlotte alumni are making a remarkable impact in the field of special education. Dr. Ashley Voggt, a 2020 graduate and Assistant Professor of Special Education at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, is leading programs supported by two major grants. Project SEASIDE, a $1.25 million award from the U.S. Department of Education, strengthens the pipeline of special education teachers by providing tuition support, mentorship, and early-career guidance, ensuring graduates are fully prepared to make an immediate classroom impact. Project INSPIRE, a $1 million award from the Texas Education Agency, addresses positive student behavior across every classroom through collaborative, evidence-based strategies, creating a statewide framework for professional development and behavior support.

Megan Carpenter, a 2021 graduate and Research Fellow at Clemson University, was recently honored with a TASH award, an international nonprofit organization that advocates for the inclusion and civil rights of people with disabilities, for her contributions to the field.

We celebrate all Niner graduates for their dedication, achievements, and the positive change they bring to the field and their communities. Go Niner Nation!
