Hedda Meadan-Kaplansky

Hedda Meadan, PhD, BCBA-D, is the Snyder Distinguished Professor in the Department of Special Education and Child Development at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Her research focuses on social-communication skills and challenging behavior of children with autism and other developmental disabilities and intervention methods to enhance these spheres of functioning. Professor Meadan and her team use a cascading intervention model in which they train and coach, via telepractice, natural change agents, such as educators, service provides, and family members, to use evidence-based strategies to promote social-communication skills of children in the natural environment. She has published widely on topics related to interventions for children with autism and other developmental disabilities and their families and on the use of technology to enhance these interventions.
